Westpac Victorian Junior Life Saving Championships
Only 1 week to go til the biggest event ever to hit Sandridge Beach rolls into town. On Sat 7 & Sun 8 March, over 1200 Nippers from across the state will converge on Sandridge to put their lifesaving skills to the test in the Victorian Junior Championships.
This is a huge event, in which Sandridge Life Saving Club has been given the honour of hosting for the very first time. On top of that, history will be made as over 20 Nippers will represent Sandridge in competition for the very first time!
It’s going to take a huge effort from all members and some help from the local community to ensure its success. We still need people to help out on Friday afternoon and across the weekend in various roles such as work party, car park attendants and of course, Patrolling.
Please let Brad know if you can help on 9820 6363 or email@sandridge.org.au

Governor-General Shows Her Appreciation
Victoria was dealing with a heatwave of unprecedented proportions. This circumstance meant that people were using the beaches for extended periods. Given the extreme situation the Premier put out a call for all Emergency Services to respond to protect the Victorian Community.
The response from all clubs was outstanding and demonstrated in the most practical sense that we are truly a committed and complimentary part of the Emergency Services. As a result of the response the Governor-General has seen fit to formally write to all agencies noting her appreciation.
Governor-General Letter of Appreciation (pdf 26KB)
Thanks for your support in Patrolling on the 30+ degree days.

Big Bay Swim
Great conditions greeted the swimmers at Sandridge for the annual Big Bay Swim last week. Over 150 swimmers took on the 3.2km challenge across to Williamstown Harbour. The Rotary Club of Point Gellibrand once again did a sensational job in organising the now traditional event.
Huge congratulations and thank you to those of you who were out in force in the red & yellow, ensuring all swimmers enjoyed a safe journey across the shipping channel. All reports from the competitors were that they felt extremely safe knowing the Sandridge Lifesavers were by their side on boards, skis and the IRB. Another great job by all involved.

Bunnings Fundraising BBQ
I would like to thank everybody that was involved in the Bunnings Sausage Sizzle weekend. Not only was it a great fundraiser, it also was great PR for the club within the local community. So in a little way it shows the potential of:
The power of working together
One person working with purpose and vision can accomplish great things. But a group of people working together can also bring the rewards of shared experience, shared successes as well as shared support in times of disappointment. Working together develops bonds of friendship that develop us as individuals. It also allows for greater creativity that can generate extraordinary outcomes.
Almost $3,000 profit for the weekend was a great outcome. Thanks to Bunnings and thanks to all the helpers, well done.
