Working With Children Check
The Working with Children Check (WWCC) is a checking system introduced by the Victorian Government on 1 July 2006. The check helps to protect children (under the age of 18 years) from sexual and physical harm.
The WWCC is a mandatory requirement for all volunteers working with children, therefore all Members of Sandridge LSC.
The WWCC is free. Application Guides and Forms are available from Post Offices.
Once the check has been completed you will receive a Working with Children Check identity card in the mail. The number on the card needs to then be included on your membership form, and will be part of your membership confirmation.
For further information please contact Director of Membership Services, Amanda McPherson, on amcpherson@mcec.com.au or 0410 463 587.

Nippers All Set to Go!
It's finally here. After almost 50 years, Sandridge LSC will conduct its first ever Nipper Program this summer.
Over 5,500 young Victorians are actively involved in the Nippers program and now its our time to join the party. In a fun environment, children meet new friends and learn water safety and survival skills. Participants complete a series of six surf education modules tailored for ages 7 to 13 years.
The Nipper program acts as a stepping stone for our juniors to become lifesavers whilst promoting a healthy and active lifestyle.
Commencing Friday 5th December, the Sandridge Nipper Program will run for 10 sessions throughout the 2008/09 season on Friday Nights from 6–7:30pm, culminating with the Victorian Nipper Championships being held at Sandridge on Sat 7 & Sun 8 March 2009.
Registrations are now open. Simply fill in the below Registration and Membership Forms and return to Sandridge Life Saving Club.

2008 Proficiency Exams (Requal)
We have been given 2 dates this year at Sandridge to perform our Proficiency Exam and prove we've still got what it takes to be Lifesavers on the beach this summer.
For those of you relatively new to lifesaving, we must all 'requalify' our Bronze Medallion each year at a Proficiency Exam prior to Dec 31st.
Proficiency 1 – Saturday 22nd November, 2pm
Proficiency 2 – Saturday 13th December, 10am
All members are encouraged to attend the first date as we will be throwing a Season Launch Party at the club that evening. More details on 'Le Festival de Ridge' to come shortly.
We will be organising Refresher Sessions prior to each Proficiency for those of you who need a little recap on all your Bronze Medallion knowledge. In the meantime, check out what's required at the Proficiency by clicking on the Handbook below.
Bronze Proficiency Handbook (pdf 41KB).
*It is important to note that in order to complete your Proficiency (Requal), you must have paid your membership fees for this season, otherwise LSV will be unable to process your award on the SurfGuard database.

State Junior Championships Organising Committee
As most of you will be aware by now, we were successful in our application to host the 2009 State Junior Championships at Sandridge Beach on 7 - 8 March. This is the largest event on the Life Saving Victoria Calendar with over 1500 Nippers expected to attend over the 2 days of competition. Obviously a big team effort is required by us all to showcase Sandridge LSC over this weekend and to host a successful event.
In order to do this, we are setting up a 'State Junior Championship Organising Committee'. The committee will consist of 6 members in the following roles:
• Event Coordinator
• Workforce Supervisor
• Catering & Functions Coordinator
• Media Coordinator
• Equipment Officer
• Club Safety Coordinator
All members are welcome to nominate for a committee position and a place in history with the first ever State Championships to be held at Sandridge Beach.
For further info, please contact Brad Cummins on 9820 6363 or email@sandridge.org.au
